Part two. Statistical concentration. Definition and measures of inequality and poverty. Index Numbers: methods of construction and properties, measurement of inflation. Static and dynamic spatial analysis of economic-productive phenomena.

Attendance

Attendance is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended.

Type of evaluation

Assessment consists of a written exam followed by an oral exam. In addition to answering questions, students will complete exercises. During the exam: a) no reference materials such as textbooks, notes, or electronic devices are permitted; b) students must bring a calculator (calculators on cell phones are not permitted). To take the exam, students must register via GOMP by the deadline. Students who, after registering, decide not to take the exam are asked to cancel their registration. If they fail to do so, the result will be recorded as “Withdrawn.” A passed written exam remains valid for subsequent exam sessions. The exercises involve determining the value of economic aggregates, indices, or statistical ratios based on the topic covered. Students may prepare using textbooks, the exercise handout, and by participating in classroom exercises. Open-ended questions require students to explain statistical and economic concepts and definitions used in official statistics, as well as the analytical formulations that enable the statistical measurement of the phenomenon. The final grade is calculated as the average of the written and oral grades. Students who have attended at least 70% of the classes and participated in a group project may take a written exam at the end of the course. Non-attending students may take exams only during the exam periods.
