This course will focus on the various aspects of EU asylum law, in particular: institutional aspects; the development of a Common European Asylum System (CEAS); protection statuses and Dublin regulation) and finally the external dimension, including access of asylum seekers to the territory of the EU

Programme

The course will analyze the development of the European Union's asylum policy with particular reference to the provisions of the treaties. The main regulations and directives adopted in this regard will be examined. In the second part, the most significant judgments on matters of state responsible for receiving refugees and granting asylum will be discussed with the teacher.

Type of delivery of the course

The first part of the course will consist of lectures (8 hours) and later the judgments will be discussed in the classroom.

Type of evaluation

An interview on the concepts learned in the first part of the activity and concerning the judgments discussed.
