The course is aimed at providing students with the theoretical-methodological tools to handle, even in a practical way, legal situations characterized by cultural and religious difference.

Programme

The course will first of all focus on the methodology of intercultural translation of situations to be legally qualified characterized by so-called 'cultural and religious diversity'. The course will adopt an interdisciplinary methodology and will integrate legal hermeneutic approach with analytical skills derived from anthropology and semiotics. The transmission of intercultural legal competence will be managed through constant reference to the application to specific case laws of the normative tools provided by legal systems. Particular attention, in this sense, will be paid in relation to the institutional and professional figures as the judge, the lawyer and the notary.

Type of evaluation

The oral test is designed to ascertain that the student has learned the legal-intercultural translation methodology necessary to support the cross-cultural use of national, transnational and international law. To this end, the assessment of the level of learning will also take into account the interdisciplinary skills acquired by the student during the course.
