The course aims to explore the constitutional dimension in which the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) fits, analysing the opportunities and risks for individual rights and freedoms arising from technological innovation, and also examining the contribution that constitutional principles can offer in guiding the regulatory framework applicable to AI.At the end of the course, students will have acquired a basic knowledge of the dynamics associated with the implementation of artificial systems and will be able to grasp the impact that AI can have on the main areas of the state-citizen relationship.

Programme

The course aims to explore the constitutional dimension of the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), analyzing the opportunities and risks to human rights and freedoms arising from technological innovation. It also examines—also in light of the AI Act—the contribution that constitutional principles can make to guiding the regulatory framework applicable to AI.

By the end of the course, students will have acquired a basic understanding of the dynamics associated with the implementation of artificial systems and will be able to grasp the impact AI can have on the main areas of state-citizen relations.

Type of evaluation

The assessment will be carried out through an oral exam, with on 3/4 questions relating to the exam syllabus. In assessing the exam, the final grade will take into account the level and quality of knowledge of the topics; the ability to critically analyze a topic; the logic of the arguments supporting a thesis; as well as the use of vocabulary appropriate to the discipline being studied.
