Provide students with a perspective of Medieval and Modern legal-political thought, through the study of rules, legal treatises and legislation developed in Europe until the experience of the codifications.

Programme

The program is divided into three sections: the first goes from the 3rd to the 11th century, and is devoted to the late-antique legal world and to the Roman-Barbaric laws; the second part focus on the classic age of the Ius Commune (12th-16th century) and it is devoted to the principal lines of development of canon and civil law; the third part goes from the beginnings of the 18th until the end of the 19th century and is primarily concerned with the codification in Europe.
