The course aims to develop analytical and interpretative skills regarding religious and cultural pluralism in contemporary European societies and the responses provided by national and supranational legal orders. Through the study of selected national experiences and the case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, with reference to school-based religious education and marriage relations with a religious background, students will acquire the ability to identify and assess the main legal conflicts and to apply balancing frameworks between fundamental rights in managing religious and cultural diversity in the European context.
