20830056 - DESIGN OF MARITIME STRUCTURES

Design of maritime structures aims at providing knowledge and competences for the design of a complex civil infrastructure, with specific reference to a maritime terminal.
A detailed knowledge of the following topics is provided: 1) hydraulic phenomena in the marine and coastal environment, 2) main maritime terminals; 3) main maritime structures typologies and design methods; 4) oral and written presentation methods.
After the course the students shall be able of: 1) specifying the requirements of the project, identifying the constraints and the relevant codes; 2) planning the design activities; 3) developing statistical analyses on meteoceanographic data, to provide inputs for the design activities; 4) defining alternative design solutions and select the optimal one; 5) using cad software and designing the main maritime structures, also providing a preliminary plan of the construction activities; 6) presenting orally the design and writing accurate reports; 7) working in team.
