20810285 - AIRPORT DESIGN

Airports Design is a course of the Master's Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. The main objective of this degree is to train a highly qualified civil engineer able to operate in the sectors of road infrastructures and transport systems. Airports Design aims to provide students with the most advanced knowledge with regard to the design and management of an airport infrastructure.
The course will provide students with the most advanced knowledge of the following topics: 1) main airport terminals design methods; 2) evaluation of the optimization of the infrastructure planning in both the territory and the infrastructure environment; 3) planning and management of engineering design activities; 4) evaluation of both the safety and environmental issues related to airports infrastructures.
At the end of the course the students shall be able of: 1) specifying the requirements of the airport project, identifying the constraints and the relevant codes; 2) planning the design activities for a new or for a modernization of an existing airport; 3) developing analysis to provide inputs and limits for the design activities, including the safety and environmental issues; 4) defining alternative design solutions and select the optimal one, also considering an improvement of the infrastructure; 5) presenting orally the design and writing accurate reports; 6) working in team.
