1. Fundamentals of fluid mechanics. Statics, kinematics; Governing Equations of Fluid Dynamics (Mass, Momentum, and Energy Equations)
2. Fundamentals of experiment design
• Dimensional Analysis and Similarity Theory;
• Applications
3. Physical model testing facilities for marine engineering applications
• Basins (Towing tanks, ocean basins, natural basins, basins for special applications, e.g. rotating arm, depressurized towing tank, etc.)
• Circulating facilities (Circulating water channels, tunnels, cavitation channels/tunnels)
• Ditching facilities
• Wave makers and beaches
4. Fondamentals of measurements
• Force measurements (working principle, balances);
• Pressure measurements (working principle of resistive, capacitive, optical and piezoelectric sensors, pressure transducers, hydrophones);
• Measurements of Submersed and floating body motions;
• Velocimetry techniques (Pitot, Laser Doppler Velocimetry, hot film, planar and volumetric Particle Image Velocimetry Techniques)
• Visualization and Photogrammetry techniques ;
• Stress and Deformation measurements (extensometer measurements, Digital Image Correlation techniques);
5. Experimental tests for marine engineering applications
• Propulsion and resistance tests;
• Performance tests on marine propulsors and marine renewable energy devices;
• Seakeeping tests;
• Manouverability tests;
• Impact tests;
• Velocimetry measurements;
• Wave elevation measurements;
• Cavitation and erosion tests;
• Noise and vibration tests;

6. Experimental signal acquisition, processing and rendering
• Fundamentals of Signal Theory. Aliasing, Sampling Theorem, Nyquist condition, WIndowing;.
7. Laboratory experiences and exercises in the experimental facilities of CNR INM.
