Programme

The course aims to 1) provide the basic geologic/geomorphologic concepts with a particular emphasis on those affect the evolution of coastal areas and the ocean floor; 2) present the main tools for direct and indirect analysis of the ocean floor; 3) understand the main physical and chemical mechanisms that regulate atmospheric circulation pattern and large scale oceanic currents; 4) evaluate natural risks with a focus on those occurring in the marine and coastal environments; 5) appreciate the conformation of the Italian coasts and the bathymeters of the seas that surround it.

Type of evaluation

The exam can be done through three written tests: the first two will be held during the semester (approximately the end of March and the beginning of May) while the third in the June and July sessions. The final grade will represent the average of the three tests. Alternatively, the exam can be done during the sessions in written form (a single written exam that includes the entire program).
