The course provides the student with tools and knowledge that are the basis of the applications of instrumental optics, photonics and optoelectronics. In particular, techniques are introduced for the study of diffraction, interference, polarization and propagation of light fields in free space, through optical systems and in guiding or resonant structures, with hints on the basic processes for the generation of laser radiation.
