The course aims to outline the characteristics of telecommunications systems, from telephone networks to packet-switched data networks to wireless networks. The performance aspects in terms of quality, cost, and security of the services offered will be addressed. Multimedia signal transmission systems will be given significant coverage in the course. Additional lectures will also be given to demonstrate some salient aspects of new telecommunications systems practically.
