20810345 - WIRELESS NETWORKING AND IOT

This course introduces the fundamentals of wireless networks for device- to-device (D2D) communications and presents the new emerging technologies for advances wireless communication systems. The main objectives of this course are (i) basics on wireless technologies, especially in new emerging scenarios such as Beyond5G (B5G), and (ii) the skill to apply this information for service development in Internet of Things (IoT) context. In particular, we will study the WiFi technology, the D2D communications and new emerging technologies such as Massive MIMO, mmWave, optical wireless communications, etc. For different application scenarios (e.g., smart city, smart car, environmental monitoring), we will investigate the main networking issues and techniques, the wireless technologies, as well as the performance results and open issues.
