20810272-2 - INGEGNERIA OFFSHORE E DELLE STRUTTURE MARINE MODULO II - COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE

The Offshore Structures course is part of the master's degree course in "Engineering for Energy and Marine Technologies", which aims to provide a multidisciplinary engineering preparation typical of the Marine, Ocean and Offshore Engineering courses widely used at abroad, broad-spectrum oriented to solve engineering problems in the marine environment. The Offshore Structures course aims to provide students with specific theoretical notions and basic analytical tools for the analysis and design of offshore structures considering the operating loads and the typical actions of the environmental marine. The main notions concerning the design of vertical and horizontal offshore structures will be included. At the end of the course, students will have acquired the necessary skills to 1) know the main offshore structures, 2) critically analyse the static behavior of steel structures present in offshore industry using basic analytical and numerical models subjected to typical environmental marine actions, 3) understand the dynamic response of such structures with the help few degrees of freedom models, 4) design and checks the main structural steel elements, including the most important welded and bolted connections, according to current regulations, 5) understand the main geotechnical problems associated with offshore structures.

Type of evaluation

Verification of learning is through an oral examination (about 30 minutes). The oral examination focuses on the theoretical and engneering topics covered in the various parts of the course. In evaluating the examination, the determination of the final grade will take into account the level and quality of knowledge of the topics, the ability to expound on them clearly, as well as the use of vocabulary appropriate to the specific technical engineering context.
