20802089 - TECHNOLOGY FOR ROAD AND RAILWAY WORKS

Road and Railway Construction Technology is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues.
Within this degree, Road and Railway Construction Technology is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the elements for the scheduling and management of the road/railway construction plans.
The main topics concern: the organizational requirements for road/railway works; the road/railway construction management; the equipments for road/railway construction; the effects of road construction work zones on traffic flow; the safety on construction sites; the environmental effects during the infrastructure construction.
At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) identify the construction stages of the transport infrastructures in compliance with project and contractual documents; 2) define the most appropriate sequence of the construction phases in relation to aims and constraints; 3) implement a control system to detect the progress of the construction process and make corrections if necessary.
