A) knowledge and understanding of the main features of the foreign language;

E) knowledge and understanding of theoretical and methodological issues relating to translation as linguistic and cultural mediation;
F) application of acquired knowledge to texts used in selected professional contexts;

H) Ability to analyze different spoken and written text typologies with the aim of planning short
language and intercultural didactic paths within second language teaching in educational and institutional settings.

Programme
The main objectives of the course are to consolidate students’ previous knowledge and to develop their linguistic competences (lexical, phonological, syntactical) according to the CEFR levels (B2+/C1). The course will focus on the specific problems of translating from/to French as well as on the different approaches to various text types. The linguistic features of genres will be analysed from a contrastive perspective, constantly referring to the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic dimensions. The description of translation procedures will be conducted in parallel with practical exercises, in order to develop students’ autonomy and awareness of their translation choices.Core Documentation
