One of the main objectives of this course of study is the acquisition of competences in two foreign languages, which is based on the development of the four written-oral skills in production and reception, for the purpose of studying intercultural and transcultural phenomena through the tools and methodologies of linguistic and philological analysis, as well as translation theory and practice. The course English Language and Translation III is amongst the core courses activities of the “Language and Translation” area and aims at the objective described above. The course delves into the practical-professional aspects of translation, applied to one or more productive sectors and related textual genres, also with reference to the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence, enhancing students' awareness of these issues. It also encourages reflection on the hybrid nature of texts, helping students to choose the most suitable translation strategy, tackling also aspects related to culture-bound items, content localization and transcreation. The course also aims at the acquisition of C1-level language skills through the development of active, passive and integrated skills (in accordance with the CEFR), to which specific activities held by language experts are dedicated. Programme

Focus on methodological approaches to translation and translation practice enhancing the student's skill to face any kind of text related to Tourism Communication. Particular attention will be paid to specialized discourse through the analysis of texts related to the domain of tourism (catalogues, websites, guide books, brochures, podcasts, etc.). Key issues like localization, transcreation and copywriting will be introduced to the students.
