Programme

This course offers an overview of the medieval millennium, with particular attention to key moments that, from political, economic, social, and cultural perspectives, mark phases of accelerated transformation. Topics include the transition from the Roman world to the Romano-Barbarian kingdoms, the Carolingian era, the Europe of knights (11th–12th centuries), the commercial revolution and social change of the thirteenth century, and the processes of political reconfiguration in late medieval Europe

Attendance

Students are deemed to have satisfied the attendance requirement if they have attended at least 70% of the course meetings.

Type of evaluation

An oral examination will be held at the end of the course.
