Graduates in Languages and Literatures for Teaching and Translation obtain advanced knowledge and understanding in all the subject areas of their training in order to
1) consolidate and develop their competence in European and American Studies, with particular attention to their literature of specialisation;
2) deepen their knowledge of the two foreign languages chosen, achieving a heightened competence in the language of specialization and an advancement in the second language;
3) reach enhanced awareness of the linguistic features of their language of specialisation, both from a diachronic and a synchronic perspective;
4) reach an adequate knowledge of the most advanced methodologies for the analysis of literary texts;
5) handle confidently the theoretical-practical tools for teaching and for translation.

Русская Литература: Темы И/ Russian literature: topics, thematic and critical paths is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It aims to consolidate language skills and sharpen specialised tools for a critical engagement with literary texts and phenomena. Student’s autonomy is pursued in the selection and application of critical approaches to the monographic topic of the module. At the same time, translation abilities will be enhanced, with a focus on both literary and specialised texts. The latter will include written (e.g. review, abstract, essay, comment), oral (e.g. presentation to the class, oral report) and digital (e.g. teaching platforms, blogs…) genres, with the knowledge acquired applicable to either research or professional practice.
At the end of the module students will be able to: critically engage with texts both from a linguistic-literary perspective and for teaching purposes; communicate disicpinary contents at an advanced level.

Requirements: Students must have already taken Русская и советская культура (парадигмы и быт)/ Russian and soviet culture (Paradigms and everyday life).

Programme

Moscow (1920-2020): Utopias, Transformations and Nostalgia
The course will focus on the image of Soviet and post-Soviet Moscow through the study of its transformation in architectural, literary and cinematographic texts. The course will focus also on the theoretical study of text of the city.

Type of delivery of the course

The course will be taught mainly in Russian. The 36-hour course is divided into 30 hours of frontal teaching and 6 hours of seminars / student-assisted teaching. The course schedule will be made available by the professor during the lectures, and posted on her website. During the course, the professor will point out some events - conferences, theatre shows, etc. – to which the students will be required to attend (at least 3 of those indicated). Covid19 situation: further information will be given at the begining of the semester.

Attendance

Incoming students info Erasmus students, or any exchange students, can take their examination in Russian, English or French. Arrangements are to be made before the exam. Additional info Attendance and participation are highly encouraged. Non-attending students should contact us immediately at the beginning of academic year to discuss what they should be doing. The course is taught mainly in Italian.

Type of evaluation

The final evaluation will be carried out by the students: - class presentation (10 min-15 min) on a topic agreed with the professor - oral examination
