Programme

The Spanish American continent has consistently reflected on its own identity, memories, and the legacies of the past, producing multiple interpretations shaped by social, political, and cultural perspectives. This module will focus in particular on some of these readings through dramatic and performative works by Spanish American authors of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

A selection of readings prepared by the professor, to be used as the primary reference bibliography.

Attendance

Attendance at lessons is optional. Non-attending students are kindly requested to contact the professor at the beginning of the course.

Type of evaluation

Assessment will consist of a final oral examination lasting approximately 30 minutes, based on the syllabus of the corresponding module: Module Interpretations of Latin America for students of Spanish-Hispano-American Literatures and Module Interpretations of Brazil for students of Portuguese-Portuguese and Brazilian Literature. Students will also be required to hand in, at least 10 days prior to the oral examination, a written report on the contents and syllabus of the other module (Module Interpretations of Latin America for Portuguese students; Module Interpretations of Brazil for Spanish students).
