Objectives of the course are a) to provide the informative and conceptual bases that allow to frame social policies in their modern historical evolution and to decode the meaning and orientations of the interventions that can be carried out in the field of social protection and b) provide an essential framework of the main regulations governing the social services sector.

At the end of the course the student:
- knows the aims of modern social policies and their historical evolution and is able to place today's guidelines for social protection within the framework of welfare regime types;
- is able to appropriately place the sectoral interventions of social protection in the scenario of contemporary social policies;
- has a conceptual and terminological heritage suitable for discussing the main themes of the social policy in an appropriate manner;
- has learned the legal bases governing the local systems of social services and knows the main laws concerning the social services sector.

Programme


The course aims to deepen the professional discipline from the basic concepts and the specific nomenclature and to decline the theoretical references in relation to the practice and the professional methodology in relation to the social worker's principal stakeholders: the individual and the family context, the referential community context and its combinations, the public organizations, the tertiary sector's agencies and the voluntary organizations.

The aim is to arouse students' knowledge and analysis tools that will enable them to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge, in order to obtain an ongoing training and an empirical learning.

TOPICS:
-professional social work: concepts and definition.
-social worker's commitment and responsibilities:
-social complexity and integration and inclusion processes,
-individual\social needs and personal / community / institutional resources.
--the social worker between theory and practice models of social work
- theoretical references and operative opportunity in social work.
- the methodological process: from planning logic to methodological structure.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND FINAL EVALUATION

The course consists of lectures aimed at the theoretical presentation of content and the use of active methodology for experiential exercises about theoretical and methodological content, to develop reflective skills and tools for the conceptualization of experience.
The plan also provides checks on intermediate processes of learning, through classroom discussions and any written assignments that will contribute to the formulation of the final evaluation.
The exam will be scripted and oral
