22911322 - Social Work Techniques and Tools

The nature and increasing complexity of the needs of people who turn to professional social work are constantly evolving, as are the challenges posed to professionals by territories, communities and welfare organisations themselves. All this requires social workers to be able to activate and maintain professional methods, tools and techniques in order to have a lasting transformative impact on people, communities and organisations themselves.

Programme

The course, after an initial phase of conceptualisation on topics related to social work, as well as innovative professional techniques and tools, will provide an overview of methodologies for activation, planning, and the design of innovative professional interventions.

The programme will include seminar sessions on specific topics selected by the lecturer together with the class group, case studies, and action-research pathways. Students will be required to develop a thematic project in teams within a specific field. The final presentation will then be discussed individually.

Attendance

Attendance is not mandatory.

Type of evaluation

Students who regularly attend the teaching activities are required to submit a written assignment, in accordance with the guidelines that will be provided during the course. Further information will be shared by the lecturer during the classes and uploaded to the FormOnLine platform. An individual presentation of the assignment is required (also in the case of group work), along with an oral examination covering the course contents. The final assessment will therefore take into account both individual responsibility in the written assignment and performance in the oral exam. Students who do not attend classes may take the exam by registering for the oral examination and preparing the readings included in the course syllabus.
