The Academic Writing Lab aims to provide students with knowledge of writing practices in the scientific field (eg: thesis, internship reports, laboratory work, research projects, scientific papers, etc.) developing transversal skills whose operational repercussions are transdisciplinary and also oriented to possible developments in the training curriculum (eg: research doctorate).
Through participation in the Inclusive Academic Writing Lab, the student will be able to achieve the following educational objectives.
In terms of knowledge and understanding:
- knowledge and understanding the editing methods and the peculiar characteristics of different academic writing products: thesis, internship report, laboratory work, research projects, scientific papers;
- knowledge and understanding the appropriate terminology that connotes and denotes the different academic writing products.
In terms of applying knowledge and understanding:
- be able to write a thesis or other type of academic writing product (internship report, laboratory work, research projects, scientific papers);
- apply the knowledge acquired in the different areas of destination (thesis, internship report, etc.);
- have mastery of scientific specialized vocabulary.
In terms of Making judgements
- be able to evaluate and monitor ex ante (predictive function) in itinere and ex post the structure and contents of the academic writing product.
In terms of Communication skills:
- be able to illustrate the academic product with appropriate language, awareness and knowledge.
In terms of Learning skills:
- demonstrate openness and flexibility, adaptation of one's own peculiarities to different contexts;
- willingness to experiment with new forms of writing;
- show ability to work individually and in groups;
- demonstrate the skills to discuss in different contexts that require a dissertation.
