1) TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE MAIN CONCEPTS, THEORIES AND MODELS OF POLITICAL SOCIOLOGY. IN PARTICULAR, THE RELATION BETWEEN SOCIETY AND POLITICAL PROCESSES IS THE FOCUS OF THE COURSE.

Part one: subjects and concepts of Political Sociology

Part two: terrorism and violent radicalisation
What is violent radicalisation - Terrorism and political extremism: concepts and data - Brief overview on current terroristic groups and networks - Factors of violent radicalisation - Subjectivisation and radicalisation - Gender and terrorism - Theories, models and methodologies - Disengagement, de-radicalisation and counter-radicalisation.

Type of delivery of the course

During COVID-19 Emergency, the class will be held on-line, according to art. 1, Rectoral Decree n. 703, May 5th 2020. Teaching activities: lessons; workshops and classworks; lectures; homework.

Attendance

Attending lessons is optional. Nevertheless, it is deeply reccomended because of attending student can take part in practical workshops (with assessment) and additional examinations on the program subjects.

Type of evaluation

During COVID-19 Emergency, the exam will be held according to art. 1, Rectoral Decree n. 703, May 5th 2020. Attending students: oral exam on the part one, practical workshops with assessment on the second part. The oral test aims to assess the knowledge of the main categories, student's critical and methodologic capabilities. Not attending students: oral exam on the whole program.
