The course aims to provide a basic preparation on the history of the media in the contemporary age and on the close relationships that have linked their development to the main processes of cultural, economic, institutional, political and social transformation from the Nineteenth Century to the present day.

Programme

The first part of the course aims to analyse the fondamental elements of professional journalism; the second, is dedicated to study the evolution of mass media industry from its origins to XXI century and its relationship with the mai political social and economical processes of the time; tha last part is focused on cinema as cultural, economical and political production of the modernity, with a straight attention to the realtionship between American cinema, politics and society in the years of nuclear scare (1945-1965).
