21810618 - THE INTERNATIONAL AGENDA AND CONTEMPORARY DEBATES

The course focuses on the main debates and emerging theoretical trends in international relations following the end of the Cold War. It examines conflicting positions which, at their core, involve fundamental disagreements as to whether the changes in the international system following the end of the Cold War - both in terms of security and in terms of developments in the process of globalisation - may imply a change in the nature of international relations.

Main theories of International Relations after the end of the Cold War,
-Analysis of decision-making processes and problem-solving techniques in an international context.
Implications of the globalization process and of its crisis.
-The role of democracy and Human Rights in the international Agenda
- Environmental protection. The emergence of security communities. Aspects of a global society.
- Determination of potential international conflicts based on current debates on the international agenda.
-Identify the debates that occupy the center of attention of the international agenda in order to propose strategies for linking or alliances between countries.
-Cooperation strategies to face up to issues affecting a specific region

Type of evaluation

The oral exam is carried out through questions to verify the knowledge of all the texts of the program. The final judgment will be: the knowledge of the contents of the requested arguments; exposure mode;the ability to critically analyse themes; linguistic mastery.
