Programme

The course is divided into the analysis of the following topics:
FIRST PART: Historical introduction and basic concepts (Constitutional profiles of social rights to health and social assistance, History of Italian health system in a national and comparative perspective);
SECONDO PART: Health planning, social service planning and essential care levels (LEAs); the division of legislative and administrative competences and the links between State and local authorities; The organization of the National Health Service and Regional Health Service;
THIRD PART: Practical issues related to Health law (Patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare and inter-regional healthcare; the liability of the medical structures; competition law and health law; commerce of pharmaceutical products).

Type of delivery of the course

The course is divided into lectures dealing with theoretical and practical aspects. Some topics will be illustrated directly by the students who will participate in the "debates". The preparation of the "debates" usually takes place with the assistance of a tutor.

Attendance

Attendance is optional. Only attending students will be able to participate in the "debates".

Type of evaluation

The exam is an oral test. Participation in the debates is subject to evaluation.
