21830237 - MARITIME TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURES

In these times, many activities connected to maritime services and infrastructures that allow the transfer of goods and passengers by sea play a strategic and essential role in economic and social development at the regional, national, and global levels. These services and infrastructures constitute maritime transport, which is the primary mode for long‑distance travel in terms of economic efficiency and environmental sustainability.
New technological challenges—both in the design and construction of infrastructures and in the management of the functional components of maritime transport systems—must be addressed through advanced and innovative approaches that take into account the particular territorial vulnerability of coastal environments.
The main objective of the course is to assess potential interferences between the coastal environment and existing or newly planned infrastructures dedicated to the transfer of passengers and goods from land to sea and vice versa.
