The course provides an understanding of the origins and evolution of International Law, from the domestic to the international sphere, and of the fundamental norms shaping contemporary Public International Law. Students develop the ability to examine mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes, including diplomatic procedures (negotiation, good offices, mediation, conciliation, inquiry) and judicial procedures such as arbitration, the International Court of Justice, and ad hoc international tribunals. The course also incorporates a regional perspective, strengthening comparative insight into Latin American legal systems within the broader framework of international law.
