Modulo I-Biochimica e Biologia Molecolare
The module aims to provide the basic notions related to the structure and function of biological macromolecules, enzymatic catalysis and cell metabolism, notions that are necessary to comprehend function of eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. Educational Objectives of the module is the acquisition of Cultural Skills, i.e. basic knowledge about the structure and function of biological macromolecules (nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids) and the mechanisms that regulate their synthesis and degradation. Furthermore, the module aims to provide basic knowledge on the mechanisms by which genetic information is conserved, transmitted and expressed. Among the Educational Objectives of the module is also the acquisition of Methodological Competences, or else the acquisition, through practical laboratory activity, of the scientific and methodological bases of important experimental techniques in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The student will acquire theoretical and methodological skills that will allow him to solve specific problems in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and to critically analyse and interpret scientific information.

PLANT PHYSIOLOGY (IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE), Lincoln Taiz and Eduardo Zeiger, editor SINAUER ASSOCIATES (Sixth EDITION; in english language)Type of delivery of the course
The course will take place through classroom lectures and laboratory activities. Lectures are organized by means of power point presentations that are made available to the students. The laboratory activities are organized in such a way to allow each student to beneficiate a single experimental position (or in pairs) and to actively participate to the activities. Before each laboratory activity, students are adequately informed and trained about the risks inherent in the exercise and provided with safety data sheets for the materials used and individual protection devices. Students complete and countersign a declaration of training / information / training regarding the aforementioned risks. Each laboratory activity is accompanied by a training course carried out by means of a printed informative material which is provided to each student and which contains questions of verification of comprehension, ability to calculate, ability to apply to problems associated with the exercise.Type of evaluation
The written test will be focused on a brief description of 2-4 topics held studied the course. The score will take into account both the knowledge of the subject and the ability to present it synthetically. Mid-term tests will be carried out with the attribution of a score effective for the final vote.
