Provide a good basic knowledge about The Concepts, Laws and Principles of Physics, particularly with regard to topics related to the degree course in Biological Sciences.
Develop the skills to apply these Laws and Principles for the quantitative interpretation of real phenomena, with particular regard to the specific aspects of the degree course in Biological Sciences and the professional expectations of a future Biologist.
The course, with mandatory attendance, includes theoretical lessons, exercises and practical activities. Practical activities will use, as far as possible, materials and tools that are easily available so that they can be reproduced independently of students.

Type of evaluation

There are no tests in progress. Attendance is mandatory, attendance is recorded on a sample basis, admission to some examination sessions may be subject to the presence of at least 70% of the recorded attendance. The exams consist of a test with a multiple-choice questionnaire and one or more problems. To access the problems you need to pass the questionnaire. The questionnaire section consists of 40 multiple-choice questions (5 alternatives). To pass the test you must answer at least 20 questions (Nr>19), the ratio (R=Ng/Ns) between right (Ng) and wrong (Ns) answers must be greater than 1.5 Problems will be evaluated taking into account: - the ability to model real phenomena using principles and laws of Physics and to argue the choices made; - the ability to recognise the physical parameters involved, make approximations, estimate/calculate the quantities used; - the appropriate use of scientific language and concepts of Physics to discuss in a quantitative way the models used and critically analyze the results obtained. No exemption tests are foreseen during the course, however, it is possible that tests on the knowledge and skills acquired during the course will be carried out without prior notice. The tests are reserved for those who attend the course, so only students in the classroom at the time of the appeal will be able to participate. NOTES: - It is possible to supplement the written grade with an oral test in the case of slight insufficiency. - Students enrolled for at least three years can take the exam only as an oral test (after passing the HERE). - In the Winter (January-February) and Summer (June-July) sessions it is possible to participate in both the QUESITI tests and the result is retained for both appeals of the session. - In the Winter (January-February) and Summer (June-July) sessions it is possible to present oneself at only one appeal: who, having given me PROBLEMS or taken the oral test at the first appeal of the session, being insufficient, cannot present himself at the second call.
