“Geology in the world of work”: orientation seminars for students of the 3rd year of the Degree in Geological Sciences
This educational activity is developed in collaboration with the Order of Geologists of Lazio. The aim of the course is making known and understood all aspects of employment opportunities, through a series of seminars held by professional geologists with mature experience in the topics they will present.

Programme
The seminar series is organised around the following thematic areas.Professional practice, legislation and responsibilities: national and regional legislation governing professional practice; professional competencies and fields of employment; occupational health and safety; geoethics; forensic geology; the work of geologists in public administration, research and large companies.

Prerequisiti
There are no formal prerequisite courses. To benefit fully from the seminars, students are advised to have basic knowledge of the main geological processes and common cartographic and spatial representations acquired during their degree programme.Core Documentation
Teaching materials, slides, legislative references and technical documentation provided by the lecturer and seminar speakers.Reference Bibliography
There is no single bibliography. For each thematic area, speakers will provide relevant, up-to-date legislative, technical and bibliographic references.Type of delivery of the course
The course is seminar, with compulsory attendance.Attendance
Attendance is compulsory. To pass, students must attend at least 75% of the total seminar hours, in accordance with the attendance recording procedures announced by the lecturer and the Degree Programme Teaching Regulations.Type of evaluation
The activity includes a final assessment graded on a pass/fail basis. A pass requires both of the following conditions to be met: • attendance at a minimum of 75% of the total seminar hours; • passing a closed-ended quiz on the topics covered. The quiz includes knowledge questions and applied questions based on brief professional scenarios. It assesses the ability to recognise areas of professional competence, relevant legislation, methods and tools of the profession, and to identify the most appropriate solution from a technical, environmental and ethical perspective in the cases presented. Assessment considers the accuracy of answers and the ability to link disciplinary content to professional contexts. The procedures, number of questions, duration and pass threshold will be announced by the lecturer before the assessment.
