The course covers the key concepts of the principal topics in Chemical Physics: thermodynamics, kinetics and quantum mechanics. Students will be introduced to the experimental aspects of Chemical Physics, and they will familiarize with the theoretical and experimental aspects of spectroscopic methods commonly used in the investigation of biomaterials and biomolecules. The course aims to develop the skills necessary to autonomously apply basic physico-chemical concepts and spectroscopic techniques (UV-vis absorption and emission, FT-IR, XPS) to the study of biomolecules.

Theoretical lessons and experiments carried out in small groups (3-4 students) with the instrumentation in the CEDIC Laboratory and Materials Chemistry Laboratory. Absorption and Emission UV-visible spectroscopy, FT-IR and IRRAS, XPS.Type of evaluation
students are required to write scientific reports about the experiments carried out in the physical chemistry laboratory; such reports are evaluated and discussed during the oral exam.
