Mutuazione: 20410316 MODELLI SPERIMENTALI IN BIOLOGIA in Biologia Molecolare, Cellulare e della Salute LM-6 PALLOTTINI VALENTINA

Programme

THE COURSE (6 CFU) IS DIVIDED INTO TWO MAIN PARTS. THE FIRST ONE (5.5 CFU) IS AIMED AT DESCRIBING THE HISTORICAL AND NORMATIVE FRAMEWORK. THE SECOND ONE IS PLANNED TO FOCUS THE STUDY ON A VARIETY OF BOTH IN VITRO AND IN VIVO EXPERIMENTAL MODELS, WHOSE EMPLOYMENT IS USEFUL IN EITHER BIOLOGY APPLIED TO HUMAN HEALTH OR CELLULAR/MOLECULAR BIOLOGY. STARTING POINTS FOR DISCUSSIONS WILL BE PROVIDED, IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE LEARNERS FOR THE WRITING OF A REPORT THAT WILL BE GOAL OF EXAMINATION. LABORATORY PRACTICES (0.5 CFU) WILL BE FIXED TOGETHER WITH THE STUDENTS WITH THE AIM OF ACQUIRING NEW TECHNIQUES ON SOME EXPERIMENTAL MODELS WIDELY USED IN BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH

Core Documentation

TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL FOR HOMEWORKS WILL BE SUGGESTED TO LEARNERS DURING THE COURSE.

Type of delivery of the course

The modul is compoed by three parts: 1) lectures about the use of the the experimental model in science through the history, laws that rule the use of experimental models, examples of scientific topics and how they have been solved by the use of the experimental models. 2) presentations by the students of scientific papers about specific scierntific topics (group work) and critic discussion about the use of the experimental models. 3)Lab practice on prototypes of experimental aniumals In case Covid-19 emergency will be prolonged lectures and students' presentations will be done via Microsoft Teams, laboratory practices will be substituted by videos.

Attendance

Attending classes is strongly recommended

Type of evaluation

The evaluation is composed by a test (multiple choise) based on the rules regarding animal experimentation, on a presentation made by the student during the second part of the course and by a final written relation on a topic choosen by the student. This work will be evaluated by the committee.
