20410850 - SOFT NANOMATERIALS AND PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the properties of soft matter at the nanoscale, with a focus on colloidal, polymeric and biopolymeric systems.
The course will cover the laws of thermodynamics - the concept of enthalpy, entropy, state functions.
The structure and properties of materials at the nanoscale will be analysed with emphasis on colloids, surfaces (functionalised and non-functionalised), polymeric and biological macromolecules.
In the area of biological molecules, protein folding and unfolding, funnel model, solution theory, hydration will be covered.
