20410845 - CELLULAR BIOCHEMISTRY

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the “inorganic biofactors”, starting from their biochemical role to the analysis of their impact on human health. Moreover, the course will provide student the essential knowledge for understanding of the biochemical and molecular mechanism underlying metabolic, mitochondrial and neoplastic diseases.

Type of delivery of the course

The course of Cellular Biochemistry is a theoretical course that takes place in the second semester (March-May) of the first year and is divided into 4 hours of lectures per week with the use of PowerPoint presentations. Lessons will be provided both in person and on a telematic platform depending on the pandemic situation.

Attendance

Optional.

Type of evaluation

The exam consists of a written test, to be taken at the end of the course, comprising five open-ended questions and ten multiple-choice questions. Students who do not take the written test, or who wish to improve their grade, may take an oral exam during the exam sessions. The final grade will evaluate the following parameters: a) Appropriateness, correctness, and congruity of acquired knowledge and skills; b) appropriate use of the specific language of the discipline; c) Expressive capacity; d) Logical skills; e) Synthesis skills; f) Ability to link different topics. Consequently, the judgment could be: a) Sufficient (from 18 to 20/30) b) Fair (from 21 to 23) c) Voucher (from 24 to 26) d) Excellent (from 27 to 29) e) Excellent (30) Praise is attributed to candidates clearly above the average, and whose possible notional, expressive, conceptual and logical limits are altogether irrelevant.
