20410991 - SURFACE RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS

The course aims to introduce the topic of electrical power generation related to renewable energy resources available on the earth’s surface. The course provides the classification of the renewable sources and their characteristics, the description of equipment and devices involved in the energy harvesting and conversion process, the discussion on the most common regulation strategies for extracting maximum power from the sources and for island operation or connection to the electricity grid. The students will acquire the skills necessary to understand the modes of operation of the systems used for electrical power generation from renewable energy resources available on the earth’s surface.
