Students will be also introduced to the problems and the methods of analysis of the different kinds of historical sources (literary, epigraphic, numismatic, archaeological ones).

Programme

Type of delivery of the course
Frontal lessonsType of evaluation
The text is both written (test) and oral. The test consists of open and multiple-choice questions according to the following model. For attending students, 4 open questions, connected to the handbook and the course, for not attending students 6 open questions connected to the handbook and the text indicated in the section “Recommended texts”, E (50% of the evaluation). For everybody the test will then ascertain the knowledge of historical events and matters of chronology through short open questions (25%); detail aspects will be verified through multiple-choice questions (12,5%); finally, knowledge of the geography of the Greek world will be tested (12,5%); the correctness of the written exposition will be also evaluated. Maximum time: 2 hours. Erasmus students are allowed to answer the questions also in English, French or German. The written test, which is evaluated until 30 points, is considered passed by obtaining at least 15/30. This allows to come to the oral part of the exam, two days after the written test, It will consist of a further verification of the knowledges as defined in the program. The oral examination will be evaluated until a maximum of further 10/30.
