The teaching is divided into two channels, chosen by the student: channel I ("Typology, universal and brain") and channel II ("Diachrony").
The channel "Typology, Universal and Brain" aims to provide:
knowledge of the fundamentals of linguistic typology, with particular reference to morphological and syntactic types. Typology and universality. Biological basis of language.
The channel "Diacronia" aims to provide basic knowledge in relation to linguistic change, at various levels of analysis, and comparison within the Indo-European context, with attention also to area and typological comparison.
Expected learning outcomes:
- Channel I students will learn about the fundamentals of linguistic typology, typology and universals, and the biological basis of language;
- Channel II students will have basic knowledge of linguistic change, the reconstruction of the Indo-European phonological system, genetic, areal and typological comparison.
