The course aims to introduce the basic concepts of the sociology of communication, with particular reference to interpersonal communication, and at the same time analyze the role of media in today’s society, in relation to social transformations, cultural, institutional and technological that characterize it. In addition, the course aims to provide students with the necessary skills to avoid forms of pathological communication in everyday life, to enhance the capacity for critical analysis and to develop a reflection that, using the theoretical tools provided, draw on their daily experience of media and media. At the end of the course, students will be able to master the main paradigms and models used in the study of the sociology of communication and media, know the fundamental genres of media production and understand the transformation of the relationship with the media made possible by the evolution of technologies, as well as the theoretical and methodological issues raised by this evolution.
