The aim of the course is, on the one hand, to provide basic textbook knowledge of general history, especially European history in its global connections between the 15th and the first half of the 19th century; on the other hand, to enable students to acquire the analytical and methodological tools necessary for understanding and critically discussing the main factors behind the construction of so-called 'western modernity
