Programme

Becoming Classics: Goliarda Sapienza, ‘The Art of Joy’ and her other works

The centenary of Goliarda Sapienza's birth in 2024 allows us to take stock in retrospect of the critical work carried out by Italian and international feminist critics in support of the attestation of Goliarda Sapienza's works, starting with ‘L'arte della gioia’, by now an international success translated into several languages, but which over time has also extended to ‘Lettera aperta’, ‘Il filo di mezzogiorno’, ‘L'università di Rebibbia’, ‘le certezze del dubbio’, which she herself published before her death in 1996.

The course will retrace the progressive attestation of her works and her figure as a writer through the critical debate that accompanied it.

Due to the workshop nature of the course, participation will be in person rather than distance learning.
