The course aims to provide an overview of the main issues of cinema and media aesthetics. In particular, we will consider both historically relevant authors and trends, and more recent methodologies and problems. In both cases, the notion of visual culture will provide a wide-ranging frame, in which contemporary problems and phenomena are read in the light of an older history of images. Particular attention will be given to studies on the sensitive and affective experience offered by cinema and audiovisual media.
