“Digital Humanities” (DH = Digital Humanities) is a field of research and teaching that has spread throughout the world over the last twenty years. Its origin is mainly practical: the creation of corpora, thesauri and electronic archives of documents, quantitative analysis of texts, stylometry, etc. But with the spread of the Web everything has radically changed: knowledge, not only humanistic, has moved to the network, which has become the privileged and pervasive access point for any activity, including research. What are the consequences of this phenomenon for the humanities and social sciences? The aim of the laboratory is twofold: on the one hand, to try to answer this question, by critically analyzing the main tools of the network (from infrastructures to search engines); on the other, remaining faithful to the applicative nature of DH, to provide students with an overview of the methodologies and tools most used today in digital humanities research.
