21810547 - INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS

International economics studies the economic and financial interdependence of nations. Among the topics covered in the course—which are current and of interest to a political scientist—are: the determinants of international trade, trade policies, the internationalization of financial markets, the macroeconomic balances (or imbalances) of different countries and their propagation in the global economy, the functioning of foreign exchange markets, and the economic impact of migration.
Students taking the course will be provided with useful tools to address questions regarding the effects—including redistributive effects—of international trade, trade policies, international migration flows, monetary policies, and the operations of multinational corporations.
The course is divided into two modules. The first module focuses on international trade, its determinants, its effects, and trade policies. The second module addresses the topics of the balance of payments, exchange rates and their determination, migration, and its economic impact
