The History of Archaeology course aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the discipline’s development from its origins to the present day, analyzing methods, theories, and key figures. The goal is to understand the evolution of excavation and interpretation practices, the relationship between culture, politics, and research, and to develop the ability to interpret sources, thereby fostering an informed approach to the preservation and promotion of archaeological heritage.

Programme

The program includes: 1) an introduction to the relationship between contemporary society and classical antiquity; 2) analysis of specific case studies; and 3) visits to museums.

Attendance

Attendance requires that at least 35 hours of teaching activities be followed, out of the total 40 hours planned for the course. Students who cannot attend for certified reasons (work, health, other) will be able to enjoy the registered lessons, through the University service.
