The aim of the course is, on the one hand, to provide students with a basic understanding of general history—particularly European history in its global context—from the 15th century to the first half of the 19th century; and, on the other hand, to equip students with the analytical and methodological tools necessary for understanding and critically discussing the main factors underlying the development of so-called “Western modernity.”
