The aim of the course is the acquisition of useful tools to understand how a text becomes a classic through the analysis of one or more works by a writer or a writer of Italian literature, in the ways of comparing texts, of reconstructing the historiographical debate , the exercise of critical thinking.

In 1993, the American critic Carol Lazzaro Weiss titled her study on Italian women writers between 1968 and 1990 ‘From margin to mainstream’, thus foreshadowing the rise of the current success of works written by women. The case of Alice Ceresa is particularly illustrative: born in Basel in 1923 and raised in Bellinzona in Italian-speaking Switzerland, she left the region for good in the 1950s to live in Rome, where she died in 2001. Although she wrote only a few works, over time these have proved to be ahead of their time in addressing issues and themes relevant to the contemporary world, placing themselves at the very heart of it.
The course will retrace the progressive attestation of her works and her figure as a writer through the critical debate that accompanied it.
Due to the workshop nature of the course, participation will be in person rather than distance learning.

Attendance
Due to its workshop character, the course requires continuous and active attendance in both oral and written form.Type of evaluation
The examination will take place in written and oral form; during the course it will be possible to take written and oral examinations that are useful for passing the examination.
