Programme

The teaching of "International Politics and Migration" of the Master's Degree in History and Society of the Department of Humanities Studies at the University of Rome 3 is dedicated - for the academic year 2018-2019 - to the history, policies, characteristics and evolution of the migratory phenomenon in Italy, in an international context of increasing complexity: with particular attention to the European situation and the issues of integration in multicultural societies; As well as increased xenophobic and openly racist reactions, also in relation to the image of this phenomenon proposed by the media and some political groups.
The course provides 36 hours of lessons, 16 of which are dedicated to an Analysis Laboratory, mainly about Communication Media and their effects. The students, organized in Working Groups, will analyze maps, press releases, newscasts, headlines and websites, advertising materials and social communications, legislative tools and thematic dossiers.

The exam will consist of an oral test, in which, in addition to the knowledge of the texts adopted, participation in the Laboratory working groups will be relevant.
