Programme

In the current historical period characterized by a serious and continuing socio-political and economic crisis and by humanitarian and social emergencies (migratory phenomena, growing poverty, widespread violence against women, hostility towards "differences" or indifference to the needs of others, "dictatorship" of GDP, technology invasiveness, etc.) as well as environmental emergency, we highlight the need to rethink democratic citizenship in the light of a sociological, ethical and an interdisciplinary approach, directing it towards a global Ecosystem characterized by well-being and sustainability through constant interaction between all involved actors who, as in a single large inclusive body, starting from the respect of the peculiarities of each one, collaborate for the common wellbeing and welfare and as much for the planet good.
In particular, the following topics will be analyzed:
- the concept of full and inclusive democracy: human rights, citizenship, "human" citizenship and citizenship of the world, global ecosystem;
-the narrative imagination and its role in the approach to "diversity" and non-Western cultures;
- The role of religion in the construction of culture and of social organization; the need for mutual knowledge and for an interreligious dialogue for overcoming prejudices and conflicts;
- Social inclusion: problems and perspectives with particular regard to political thoughts and practices “different” from dominant models, to the women’s condition from an intersectional perspective and gender violence too, to migratory phenomena and to ethnic and religious minorities;
- Global ecosystem, full democracy and 17 sustainability objectives for 2030.

Furthermore, good practices and experiences, videos and films on the proposed themes will be presented.
